Tigger

So, I thought it was time to introduce you to my favourite muse:

Tigger - A.K.A The Tigster; TiggyWiggles; Mr T; Orange Boy; various other random word combinations that have a tenuous link to his actual name or the fact that he's a rather glorious (if perpetually miserable-looking) orange cat.

He's my little brother-from-another-mother (and father - obviously) i.e he's my parents cat (or - as he would argue - they are his people!). He's quite bonkers and I love him. He also - like most cats - is quite judgy, as demonstrated perfectly by this picture:

Tigger (and no, he is not amused!)

My first poetry group prompt was: Spring. So this, ladies and gentlemen was the very first poem I wrote...

Spring

The coil of happiness..

Sends The Orange One bounding

Patting and pounding

His most favoured plaything -

The Spring

Gleefully tussling

Yellow eyes narrowing

“Look Mum - I’m hunting!”

“The spring!”

Upside down tumbling

Legs flying jumbling

“Where is it hiding??”

“My Spring?!”

“Is it a highland fling?”

“Or a new disco thing??”

“Orange cat dancing?”

 We ask through our giggling

But no it’s a simple thing

That has Tigger wriggling -

Beloved cat plaything

The Spring 😺

A couple of months later Tigger became unwell. We discovered he had Chronic Heart Failure and were preparing for him to make his exit from this mortal coil.

Still judgey. Still highly unimpressed.

That month the prompt for group was: Not Enough

Not Enough

Give me more,
Please,
Your paw,

Your heart,

Your love,

Your purr,

Your endless pureness,

Enduring sweetness,

I’ll be here,

For you,

Your nearness,

Fills my heart,

Sheer joy imparts,

To me,

From you,

Your lion-hearted,

Fight for life,

So strong,

So true,

I just want more,

For you

My boy,

So soft,

Of golden light,

You’ve burned through life,

Too fast,

So young,

And when you’re gone,

Your white-tipped tail,

Curled round my heart,

Will comfort me,

For life,

You see,

My love for you,

Is strong and true,

Will always be,

Just,

Not enough.

I'm happy to report that The Tigster is still with us, still harassing the wildlife and still very, very judgey! Love ya, little brother! ❤
